BOWEN THERAPY

Bowen Therapy is a connective tissue and muscle therapy that is non-invasive and every effective.

It is a gentle form of bodywork in which small but precise moves are done.

There are frequent but important pauses during the session, which allow the body to integrate the moves resulting in a more profound response. The technique addresses musculoskeletal framework, the fascia, nerves and internal organs.

The Bowen Technique has been described as the most holistic of natural therapies as it stimulates the body's own healing response without the need for forceful manipulation.

A Bowen Therapy session can last as little as 20 minutes although 45 mins to 1 hr is more common. The end response from Bowen depends on each individual's ability of heal, and although most people respond after just one session, 2 – 3 are generally recommended to get the optimum benefits.

Bowen Therapy can be performed through light clothing and should be considered for people of all ages. Babies, children, pregnant women and the elderly respond well to Bowen.

Things to do after a Bowen session. The 3 W's.

W (Water)

Ensure that you drink lots of water

W (Walk)

It is advisable for the day of the treatment to walk. That is not to sit for too long after your session. This helps the body integrate the Bowen.

W (Wait)

The Bowen Technique is triggering your healing response for 5 - 10 days after your session, so it is important not to have any other form of body work during this time such as; massage or chiropractic work. To do so can halt the process of Bowen as your body is receiving counteractive messages.
